I’m Nico Krijnen, a software architect, tech lead and experienced software engineer. Whether I’m mapping human intent with EventStorming, or building domain models and scalable backends with Kotlin and AWS, my goal is always to create teams and software that thrives. Solving real-world problems while allowing the people and teams around me to utilize their strenghts.

My expertise and interest goes deep on many levels and broad on even more, giving me a unique ability to connect dots that others might not even notice. That strength allows me to find ways to build deeper understanding and uncover opportunities and solutions that minimize complexity and remain adaptable and relevant for longer.

I love helping teams to find ways to increase their impact and enjoy doing that together with diverse mindsets. You’ll regularly find me talking at conferences or meetups and giving workshops to share my insights.

Currently, I work at Yuma, where we use our cross-functional expertise to prioritize the human side of digital and AI transformations.

For a big chunk of my career, I disrupted the DAM space by building an innovative file management solution called Elvis, which is being used by media organizations all over the world. Besides leading and supporting teams and giving direction, I like to roll up my sleeves and experience first-hand how the latest technologies shift our abilities and change our way of thinking. I’m never shy of making unconventional choices to achieve radical results.

I’m an experienced speaker and workshop facilitator. I gave conference talks at:
